Team Access & Roles

Learn about managing team members, roles, and permissions in your Finicom organization.

Team Access & Roles

Finicom provides robust user management features to help you control access to your organization's data and resources. This guide explains how user roles work, how to invite team members, and how to manage your organization's settings.

User Roles and Permissions

Finicom implements a role-based access control system with three levels of access:

Admin Role

Organization administrators have full control over the organization, including:

  • Managing team members (invite, remove, change roles)
  • Managing organization settings and billing
  • Creating and managing API keys
  • Full access to all data operations:
    • Creating and managing sources
    • Setting up and managing integrations
    • Configuring destinations
    • Managing connections
    • Viewing all organization data

Write Role

Members with write access can perform data operations but cannot manage the organization:

  • Create and manage sources
  • Set up new integrations
  • Configure destinations
  • Manage existing connections
  • View all organization data
  • Access trial and paid features
  • Cannot:
    • Manage team members
    • Change organization settings
    • Manage API keys

Read Role

Members with read access have view-only permissions:

  • View organization data and analytics
  • View existing sources and their configurations
  • Access existing integrations
  • View destination settings
  • View connection details
  • Cannot:
    • Create or modify sources
    • Set up new integrations
    • Configure destinations
    • Manage connections
    • Change organization settings
    • Manage team members
    • Access API keys

Inviting Team Members

How to Invite Members

  1. Navigate to your organization's settings page
  2. Click the "Invite Member" button in the Members section
  3. Enter the invitee's email address
  4. Select the appropriate role (Admin, Write, Read)
  5. Send the invitation

The invited user will receive an email with a link to accept the invitation. The invitation link expires automatically for security purposes.

Managing Invites

  • Pending Invites: View all pending invitations in the Members section of your organization settings
  • Canceling Invites: Administrators can cancel pending invitations at any time before they're accepted
  • Expiration: Invitations automatically expire after a set period for security

Managing Organization Members

Viewing Members

The Members section in your organization settings displays:

  • Current members and their roles
  • Pending invitations
  • Last activity status

Modifying Member Access

Administrators can:

  • Change member roles
  • Remove members from the organization
  • Revoke access immediately when needed

Best Practices

  1. Regular Access Review

    • Periodically review member access and roles
    • Remove inactive members
    • Update roles as responsibilities change
  2. Role Assignment

    • Grant the minimum necessary permissions
    • Reserve admin access for users who need full control
    • Use write access for team members who need to perform data operations
    • Use read access for team members who only need to view data
  3. Security

    • Revoke access immediately for departing team members
    • Cancel unused or expired invitations
    • Monitor the activity logs for unusual behavior
