Finicom Airtable Extension

The Finicom Airtable Extension allows you to view and monitor your bank transaction data from Finicom directly within your Airtable bases. This integration makes it easy to reference your financial data while working in Airtable, providing a seamless experience for tracking expenses and monitoring cash flow.

Note: this extension is coming soon and not yet available.

Installation

  1. Open your Airtable base
  2. Click on "Extensions" in the top right corner
  3. Search for "Finicom" in the Extensions marketplace
  4. Click "Install" to add the extension to your base

Setup Process

Step 1: Finicom Account Setup

  1. If you haven't already, sign up for a Finicom account
  2. Connect your bank accounts through the Finicom dashboard
  3. Set up your transaction syncing preferences

Step 2: Generate API Key

  1. In your Finicom dashboard, go to Settings > API Keys
  2. Click "Create New API Key"
  3. Give your key a descriptive name (e.g., "Airtable Extension")
  4. Copy the API key immediately - it will only be shown once
  5. Store the key securely - you'll need it for the extension

Step 3: Configure the Extension

  1. Open the Finicom extension in your Airtable base
  2. Enter your API key when prompted
  3. The extension will connect to your Finicom account and display your transaction data

The extension provides several key features:

Current Table Status

  • View the sync status of your current Airtable table
  • See which bank account's data is being displayed
  • Monitor the last refresh time

Synced Tables Overview

  • See all Airtable tables connected to Finicom
  • Easily switch between different transaction views
  • Monitor sync status across all connected tables

Security

The Finicom Airtable Extension prioritizes the security of your financial data:

  • Read-only API access ensures your data cannot be modified through the extension
  • All API communications are encrypted using HTTPS
  • No sensitive banking credentials are stored in Airtable
  • API keys are scoped for viewing access only

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues:

  1. API Key Invalid

    • Verify you've copied the entire key
    • Ensure the key hasn't been revoked
    • Generate a new key if needed

  2. Data Not Displaying

    • Check your internet connection
    • Verify your Finicom account is active
    • Ensure bank connections are working in Finicom

  3. Extension Not Loading

    • Refresh the Airtable base
    • Check if the extension needs updating
    • Verify API key permissions
